Overview

This Department delivers general taught courses for students at FHT. The lecturers of the Department read totally 9 courses within the University. In addition to FHT, the Department trains students at FTE and FGS.

The Department covers in the following main fields: steady and non-steady flows in rivers and channels, non-steady processes (water hammer) in pressurised systems, spillway hydraulics, chutes, buckets and stilling basins, hydromorphology of river beds, forecasts of river and sediment regimes of the Danube, forecasts of spring floods and summer/autumn low-flow period of the most important internal rivers in Bulgaria. The Department's academic staff participates also in international research projects (co-financed by UNESCO, PHARE, GE FUND).

The Department includes 3 laboratories, which provide excellent conditions for research.
