Hydraulics

The subject offers knowledge of the real (viscouse) fluid flows. The Bernoulli’s and Reinold’s equations for entire steady & unsteady flow as well as the hydraulic characteristics of laminar and turbulent flows are considered. The methods for hydraulic calculations of both steady flow in closed conduits and free surface flow are introduced. Special attention is drawn on the transients. The hydraulic calculation for different types of weirs, spillways, lateral discharge structures and control gates are considered. Problems of the energy dissipation and the stilling devices are considered. The fundamentals of the ground water flow and seepage through an earthfill dam are discussed in details.
